B96 Radio Personality to Live in Six Flags Great America’s Sky Trek Tower for Fright Fest
Popular Nighttime DJ to stay suspended 285 feet above ground until Raging Bull hits 1.5 million riders
Gurnee, Ill (Oct. 5, 2009) – Six Flags Great America is challenging local radio personality - Jerzy from Chicago’s Number One Hit Music Station B96 - to experience Fright Fest like never before. Starting Oct 10, evening radio jock Jerzy, will live in Sky Trek Tower until Six Flags Great America’s signature coaster Raging Bull reaches 1.5 million riders. Normally home to the notorious 50-foot gorilla during Fright Fest, the Tower will be transformed into Jerzy’s apartment 285 feet in the sky. Jerzy will spend his days and broadcast his evening show in the Tower. During the evening Jerzy will descend to sleep in the park which has been transformed into a shadow-land of ghosts and ghouls for Fright Fest.
Six Flags Great America’s Raging Bull is celebrating its 10-year anniversary in the park. Raging Bull is the tallest, fastest, longest coaster at the park and was the world’s first hyper-twister coaster when it was built in 1999. So far this season, over one million guests have braved the park’s tallest coaster. Jerzy will stay in Sky Trek Tower until Raging Bull reaches 1.5 million riders which historically happens during Fright Fest. Sky Trek Tower is the park’s observatory attraction, rising 285 feet above the ground and offering panoramic views of the surrounding area.
“Raging Bull is Six Flags Great America’s most frightening roller coaster,” said Dameon Nelson, director of operations at Six Flags Great America. “We wanted to recognize Raging Bull’s ten years at the park by combining the thrill of the coaster with the thrill of living 285 feet above ground during Fright Fest, the spookiest time of the year at the park.”
“Jerzy is B96's rookie on-air personality and we wanted to find out how serious he was when he said he would do anything to work the night show! If taking his broadcast 285 feet in the air plus the isolation of staying on haunted grounds doesn’t scare him away then the show is his,” said B96 Program Director Todd Cavanah.
Six Flags Great America’s Fright Fest runs weekends starting Oct. 3 – Nov. 1. Six Flags Great America is located less than a tank of gas away from Chicago and Milwaukee and offers fun for the entire family with 13 heart-pounding roller coasters including Raging Bull, a free 15-acre water park, spectacular shows and parades three children’s themed areas with over 30 kids rides including Wiggles World and meet and greets with Six Flags’ world-famous cast of characters, including Mr. Six.
